13歲的娜歐咪(Naomi)正歷經她人生最慘痛的歲月。爸爸丟了工作，被媽媽趕出了家門，而她的狗狗迪索(Diesel)遭逢車禍，不幸去了另一個世界。

Sylvia McNicoll，加拿大得獎作家，著有導盲犬相關故事《Bringing Up Beauty》，並藉此榮獲1996年銀樺兒童選書獎（Silver Birch Children's Choice Award）以及1997年曼尼托巴童書獎（Manitoba Young Reader's Choice Award）。McNicoll非常善於描寫動物相關的青少年小說，她至今已累積超過30本著作，廣泛授權至德國、瑞典、西班牙、韓國等地。她現居加拿大安大略省柏靈頓。
