THE STIG PLAYS A DANGEROUS GAME is the first episode in a fun and boisterous illustrated middle-grade series for 9-11 y/o readers, featuring the legendary Top Gear character The Stig. I have been told that Top Gear is very popular in China so the audience should be very familiar with the character, who I believe is called exactly The Stig in Chinese too. We are publishing four episodes between March and September 2018 and planning an exciting promotional campaign in collaboration with BBC worldwide and the Top Gear Brand.
Enigmatic, unpredictable but always ready to save the day, the Stig will assist an unlikely, endearing gang of friends on their breath-taking missions which will see the young protagonists travelling to different locations around the globe to fight the world’s most evil masterminds.
Humour, emotion and rollercoaster plots are at the core of this series which fully reflects the original Top Gear spirit of irreverence and fair play but is ultimately about friendship and sticking together. In each episode a different member of the Gang takes centre stage (with of course the Stig ever present), and all through the series the characters develop in a resonant way and their relationships mature.
The protagonist of the first episode is witty, defiant Sam Wheeler who just cannot keep away from reckless downhill rides. When he moves to a suspiciously dormant countryside town, he would never imagine what it is in store for him.
Sam Wheeler may be the new boy in Bunsfold, but he's got a feeling that all is not well either in the town or at Bunsfold High - and he's not just talking about the maths teacher with the unfortunate flatulence. A local boy, Buster Mustang, has recently gone missing, and no one seems to care - they're all too busy playing the highly addictive video game Xenon or getting the town ready for its very first TT race. Both are the brainchild of mysterious local billionaire PT Cruiser. Besides global domination, PT Cruiser wants nothing more than to destroy his nemesis The Stig, once and for all - and his TT race is just what he needs to tempt him on to the big stage again ...
Sam sets out with his new friends Minnie Cooper and Ford Harrison to uncover the truth behind all the strange goings-on in Bunsfold - but danger has a habit of showing up wherever they do, and soon all that stands between our heroes and disaster is ... a taciturn man in a white suit.
