KATHERINE LANGRISH grew up in the Yorkshire Dales, and has always enjoyed writing and telling stories. She studied English at university, and had a variety of jobs, including working in London for Lloyds Register of Ships, where she once met a man who claimed to have a magic eye.
Married with two daughters, Katherine went to live in France near the edge of the Forest of Fontainebleau, where she ran a storytelling group for children in the mysterious recesses of the Fontainebleau Library. Four years later, Katherine and her family moved to New York State, near the Finger Lakes, said by Indian legends to be the hand-print of the Great Spirit. Here the family acquired a scatty brown-spotted Dalmatian dog called Rosie.
