Hazel Edwards is a Melbourne-based writer, best known for her Hippopotamus on Roof series: There's a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake, Hey Hippopotamus, Do Babies Eat Cake Too?, My Hippopotamus is on Our Caravan Roof Getting Sunburnt and Guess what? There's a Hippopotamus on the Hospital Roof Eating Cake. The series is now 25 years old, is read by millions of children in many languages, and has been adapted into puppetry, audio, scripts and other media.
Hazel is married with two children and has a grandson for whom she writes a story each birthday. Her hobbies include swimming, belly dancing and asking questions.

Debrah Niland is one of Australia 's most highly acclaimed illustrators and she id probably best known for her work on Hazel Edwards' Hippopotamus series. She has won many awards including the prestigious Leipzig Bronze Medal for there's Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake.
Annie's Chair which was written and illustrated by Deborah won the 2006 Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Award (Early Childhood).
She ilves in Sydney where her three children and posse of dogs keep her extremely busy.
