Tania Compton was, until 2005, gardens editor of House & as a garden designer. ( UK edition), and previously worked as a garden designer. She has published numerous articles about hardens in all parts of the world, and now works as independent wrier, She lives (surrounded by a stunning garden that she created with her husband, the botanist Dr James Compton ) in rural Wiltshire, in south-west England.

Andrew Lawson is a well-known gardens photographer whose pictures have been reproduced extensively in books and magazines worldwide. He is also a Keen gardener, and his pictures have informed his deep knowledge of the subject. He wrote and illustrated The Gardener's Book of Colour, and his photographs have appeared in books by, among others, Rosemary Verey, Penelope Hobhouse, Sir Roy Strong and HRH The Prince of Wales. He lives in Charlbury, near Oxford , England .
