● 內文簡介

The official annual guide to all the awards presented by the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2006, including the prestigious televised Stirling Prize. Embraces over seventy-five projects by both established and emerging practices, offering a rich diversity in terms of scale and building type.

The Royal Institute of British Architects' Awards are perhaps the most rigorously judged awards in any sector in the world. The overall prize, the RIBA Stirling Prize in association with The Architects' Journal, is chosen from a shortlist that has been visited by four different sets of judges. The process is shown and the winning announced live in a Channel 4 programme made by Talkback THAMES and presented by Kevin McCloud.

This huide describes and illustrates all seventy-two RIBA, RIBA European and RIBA Internal Award-winning schemes, including the winners of the inaugural international Lubetkin Prize and a series of further prizes for sustainability, conservation, inclusive design, client of the year, best small project and best one-off house. It is introduced with an essay on the judging of the 2006 Lubetkin and Stirling Prizes by author Tony Chapman, who heads the RIBA's awards programme.
