● 內文簡介

COLOUR: A WORKSHOP FOR ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS aims to demystify its subject for professionals and students alike, and to inspire confidence in its application to two and three-dimensional including fraphic design illustration, painting, art and textile design. In addi-tion to covering the fundamentals of colour theory, the author provides assignments that guide the student through a variety of colour experiences, moving logically from basic structural to experiments with colour applications.

COLOUR discusses a variety of topics such as:

˙the mechanics of colour perception

˙the relationship between colour and light in two dimensions

˙the optical effcts colour interaction

˙the transcription of perceived colour in observational painting

˙colour unity and anomaly

˙using found colour as a resource

˙the psychological effects of colour groupings

˙the composition of colour on the computer in CMYK

In CoLOUR, concepts and terminology are always linked with supporting visuals. The book is generously illustrated with examples drawn from the rich multicultural history of art and design. Colour charts and studies created by students round out the range of illustrations. The book also includes an extensive, fully illustrated glossary of colour terms.

Simplifying and clarifying the subject in a way that is both serious and accessible, the chapters can be followed in strict sequence or as a visual resource to be visited from time to time.
