Bar and Club Design is a toast to the world's hippest nocturnal venues. Through stuning photography it explores the interiors that provide the setting for the nightlife of international cities.
An increasingly sophisticated bar market has meant a resurgence in cocktail culture and the explosion of the ' style bar' – a venue that is professionally designed and which serves quality spirits, wines, and cocktails.
Club culture has also changed. Clubbers are no longer content with ill-conceived spaces and their dissatisfaction has led to a greater consideration contemporary club design, not in terms of space, but also of materials and technology. At the same time, late-night lounge bars – offering the comfort and luxury of an exclusive bar, but also with and in-house DJ – have emerged to respond to the needs of the ' grown-up clubber'.
Bar and Club Design features sections on Bars and Restaurant Bars, Hotel Bars, and Clubs, and contains an introductory essay that places the development of bars and clubs in a socio- historic context. Showcasing the best after-dark playgrounds, this book is an invaluable reference source for architects and designers, as well as an indispensable guide for party people.
