Nora Sands is the outrageous, loveable, no-nonsense dinner lady who shot to fame in Jamie Oliver;s TV series, Jamie's School Dinners. Armed with new-found confidence and an ingredients list she couldn't pronounce, Nora became passionate about getting children cooking confidently at home. Rather than relying on unhealthy and unsociable ready-meals. Her recipes draw on her favourite childhood foods, the meals she prepared with her own children, and the foods she discovered while working with Jamie. Nora's Dinners is full of recipes for delicious and nutritionally well-balanced meals, plus treats for special occasions. Although some recipes require adult help or supervision, children will be able to follow each recipe themselves. The emphasis is on learning about food basics and cooking, and having fun with the family while doing so.

Nora Sands is Britain's favourite dinner lady who shot to fame as Jamie Oliver's right-tand woman on the TV series Jemie's School Dinners. Nora was instrumental in helping Jamie as he campaigned to improve the nutritional value of the nation's school dinners.

Nora still works for Greenwich Council where her offcial title is Unit Manager, but she calls herself a Cook! Since 2004, she hasn't served a single chip and now has between 500 add 600 pupils eating in the school canteen every day where she serves frseh, Homemade food ranging from lemon roasted chicken to vegetable cannelloni. But she'd be happy if your children started by simply boiling an egg!
