As a Harvard-trained sports medicine and rehab doctor, Dr. West reveals the little-known link between metabolism, muscles and
movement, and how they affect our performance and longevity.
Most physical exams only pronounced you’re “well” if everything is “normal.” It’s a bar so low often misses the true state of your musculoskeletal health. We tend to ignore our movement system until something goes wrong, not realizing that metabolic health influences everything from injury recovery to everyday pain.
In other words, our muscles, bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments run on metabolic “fuel.” When that fuel system falters, the entire movement engine struggles. A bad shoulder or hip is often the first warning sign of larger issues like diabetes or heart disease.
The good news is that understanding this link gives us a powerful new way to improve health and manage pain. Dr. West’s holistic, cutting-edge “Durable” program teaches you how to strengthen this connection—not just treating injuries, but building a body that resists them and heals better when they happen.
Following the Durable approach helps you go beyond being merely “not sick” to becoming truly robust, so you can keep doing what you love—whether that’s CrossFit, hiking, or staying independent as you age.
