Adrian Tinniswood is the author of fourteen books of social and architectural history. His book The Verneys was shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize for Non-Fiction. A Senior Research Fellow at the University of Buckingham and a Visiting Fellow in Heritage and History at Bath Spa University, he has worked for and with the National Trust at local, regional and national level for more than thirty years.
He has made a number of appearances on British television, most recently on Channel4’s new series of drama documentaries, Bloody Foreigners, and has contributed to Lucinda Lambton’s Elevations and Revelations, Start the Week, Melvyn Bragg’s In Our Time (all BBC Radio 4), and the arts programme Nightwaves (BBC Radio 3).
In 2013 he was awarded an OBE for services to heritage.
