● 內文簡介

一本全面性認識心臟疾病的書。它提供最佳預防方法與解釋一切與心臟疾病有關的誤解和偏見,讓我們如何有效強化自己的心臟,並遠離醫學臨床上的頭號殺手。

Is red wine good for your heart? Is dark chocolate healthier than milk chocolate? What should your cholesterol levels be? Can the stress of your job really lead to a heart attack? Will your “Type A” personality damage your heart? Most importantly—How are you going to avoid being stricken by heart disease?

《Rx Heart: Facts, Fads and Fictions in the Prevention and Treatment of Heart Disease》will be the first book to provide definitive, easily understood answers to the key questions that you must understand in order to ensure the health of your heart. Heart disease is our Number 1 health issue. Nobody can ignore it; heart disease can affect anybody—young and old, male and female—and its prevention must begin early. Addressing important questions that have been highlighted by the mass media, Rx Heart has a large, ready-made audience. The numbers are staggering. Twenty-five million American adults currently have diagnosed heart disease, and millions more are on the way to developing heart problems. People affected by heart disease come from all strata of society, from celebrities like Robin Williams, David Letterman and Bill Clinton to teachers, firemen, athletes, and even heart doctors. New information about heart disease is constantly reported by newspapers, radio, television, and the internet; all cover health and heart disease topics on a daily basis.

In 《Rx HEART》, Drs. Gillinov and Nissen will provide critical advice and directives about issues such as why women are six times more likely to die of heart disease than breast cancer and what to do about it, the importance of exercise and how much you really need to do and when is it harmful, options your doctor won't tell you when you need heart surgery, whether specific foods such as chocolate, fish oil and coffee help prevent heart disease or can cause it, what your cholesterol levels should be and why and how to get to the numbers you need.
