● 內文簡介

FIRST BOOK ON THE TAROT FOR ARTISTS AND CREATIVES!

Jessa Crispin pairs tarot readings and wisdom from great creative figures (from Virginia Woolf and Rembrandt to David Bowie!) with gorgeous fresh artwork for a new generation of creative writers, artists, and thinkers. In the tradition of The Secret Language of Birthdays and Steal Like an Artist , a great book for younger and older readers alike by the founder of Bookslut.com.

What if the path to creativity was not a vexing process? What if you could find that spark, plot twist, or next project by simply looking at your life and your art through a different lens?

THE CREATIVE TAROT is a unique guidebook to both the Tarot and the creative life. Written for novices and seasoned readers alike, Jessa Crispin guides the blocked, the puzzled, and the uninspired through the intuitive world of the Tarot to get the creative spirit rolling again. In the book you will learn that the cards are not esoteric or tools of the occult, but are instead approachable and helpful tools to solve creative problems -- well, creatively!

This endlessly useful reference offers spirited readings of the cards; practical information to assist the writer, artist, and other creatives from the beginning of a new project to end; and a wealth of inspiring anecdotes of how artists like Virginia Woolf, Rembrandt, and David Bowie found their inspiration and overcame creative stagnation. THE CREATIVE TAROT features these five original spreads invented by Crispin and tailored to common issues:

- Finding Inspiration
- The Creative Block
- Creating Structure
- Checking the Direction
- Bringing Your Project into the World

THE CREATIVE TAROT reimagines the tarot with an emphasis on using the cards to get to the root of creative problems. After more than ten years of study, author Jessa Crispin has taken the traditional meanings of the cards and applied them to help artists with their projects. In the book, she explains the longstanding connection between artists and tarot; for example, Salvador Dali was so intrigued by the tarot that he designed his own deck, and Italo Calvino's book The Castle of Crossed Destinies was inspired by fifteenth-century tarot cards and their archetypical images.

Written in a clear, accessible tone and with full-color illustrations throughout, THE CREATIVE TAROT is a useful, beautiful guide that demystifies both the Tarot and the creative process.
