● 內文簡介

The ancient accounts tell us that Jesus could calm storms with a word, feed thousands with just a few scraps of bread and fish, and even walk on water. It is said that he cast out demons, healed the sick and even rose from the dead. So who on earth was this man? It's one of the biggest mysteries in history.

Based on the major BBC ONE series, The Miracles of Jesus goes back to and often neglected area of Christ's life for clues-his miracles. Regardless of what those of us in the twenty-first century may think, the fact is that many people at the time of Jesus were convinced he could work miracles. The crowds followed him precisely because they believed he could feed the multitudes with scraps with scraps of food just as well as he could heal the sick, the infirm and the blind. His enemies denounced him for working miracles . Even historians of the time acknowledged him as a 'wonder worker'.

But the ancient world was teeming with so-called miracle workers- what made Jesus special? In The Miracles of Jesus, award-winning writer Michael Summons Roberts shows that Jesus was unique because his miracles were full of hidden meanings. Today we might say that they were an 'ancient code'. In this compelling and reveling book we crack that code to try to find out who Jesus of Nazareth really was.
