● 內文簡介

Leading cosmologist and astrophysicist Enrique Gaztañaga reframes modern cosmology by taking finiteness seriously as a physical principle

It all starts with a simple question: what if the Universe began inside a black hole—and what if we are still living in it?

Drawing on three decades of research in theoretical physics and observational cosmology, The Black Hole Universe is for readers who want to understand not only what we observe about the Universe, but whether those observations are already pointing toward a deeper, more unified cosmic history.

At a time when cosmology is rich in data yet divided in interpretation, this book reveals how several of modern physics’ most persistent puzzles are actually connected pieces of a single structure, thus opening the door to a new cosmological.

Representing the next step in the debate on the origin of the cosmos, The Black Hole Universe scales up theories popularized by Carlo Rovelli’s White Holes, grounding them with accessible style and fresh scientific discoveries.

Appearing at a critical juncture when these theoretical tensions can no longer be ignored, the book approaches cosmology as cosmic archaeology. Just as archaeologists reconstruct a hidden past from incomplete remains, Gaztañaga shows how cosmologists can piece together the universe's history—guided not by wild speculation, but by physical laws and observational evidence.

● 作者簡介

Enrique Gaztañaga is a cosmologist and astrophysicist, and the originator of the Black Hole Universe framework. For more than three decades he has worked across theoretical physics, observational cosmology and the interpretation of large-scale cosmic data, with positions at institutions including Oxford, Fermilab, INAOE, the University of Barcelona, the Institute of Space Sciences (CSIC/IEEC) and the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation at the University of Portsmouth. He has played several roles in major international Cosmic Surveys and space missions such as Planck, DES, Euclid, PAUS, DESI and ARRAKIHS.
