Dagoberto Gilb is the author of Gritos, Woodcuts of Women, The Magic of Blood, and The Last Known Residence of Mickey Acuna. His essays have appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s, and The Best American Essays, and as commentaries on NPR’s Fresh Air. A constructin worker for sixteen years, he is now on the faculty of SouthwestTexasStateUniversity.
