An addictive read that blends humor with the uncanny, and features an ex-police officer and hacker investigative duo that rivals the iconic dynamic of Mulder and Scully

Detective Constable Ophelia Cross watched a wanted man lifted into the sky by something that shouldn't exist. Her Police Report filed away; her career over. Finn Locke was an ex-cyber hacker until a leaked file cost him everything. Then, one night, he saw something that broke every rule of physics he thought he understood.

Now they’re the latest recruits to Room 801: a Whitehall department so secret that most in the government don't know it exists. For thirty years its staff have logged every sighting, every impossible report - everything that can't be explained - and filed it away. Their orders have always been the same. Do nothing. But the Government – with four other governments – want answers and they are recruiting younger, more curious people, people who have experienced something that cannot be explained.

A rural crime incident in Wiltshire reveals a disturbing truth. Finn and Ophelia are watched by shadowy figures in the village. Lights over the fields aren't drones. Even the notorious local criminals are worried. The deeper Cross and Locke dig, the clearer it becomes: the people in charge of Room 801 aren't hiding the truth… They're losing control of it.
