Hugh Davoren is a construction hand at the old Pettyjohn Ranch, home of many childhood memories, including sadness over the seemingly accidental death of a teenage girl. Hugh is just trying to get through another long day when he discovers two buried horses on the ranch. The new owners, Wesley Balcomb and his restless wife, Laurie, each seem to be hiding something terrible. As Hugh is pushed into dangerous corners, he finds that everyone involved with the ranch, past and present, including old Mr. Pettyjohn himself, has secrets best kept buried.
