HARLEY, “LIKE A PERSON was born from a short story, “Run Away,” published in the original Sassy magazine. After it appeared, Cat received letters demanding to know what happened to the character. Harley, Like a Person is her response. The novel was named an American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults, an ALA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers, and an ALA Popular Paperback for Young Adults. It was also honored as a Booklist Top 10 First Novel for Youth, a Book Sense 76 Pick, and a society of Children's Book writers and illustrators Sue Alexander Most Promising New Work Award winner.
