A rich and compelling novel about murder in a claustrophobic Newfoundland community from bestselling and award-winning novelist Donna Morrissey.
When a man is found stabbed and floating in the shallows of Deer Lake the small Newfoundland town of Hampton is swept up in a storm of suspicion and paranoia. Still grieving the loss of one of their own in an accident a year before, the troubled Now family are the first to be suspected of the killing. As the mystery around the murdered man unfolds, the lies spiral, the stakes rise, and the once idyllic town becomes a prison that no one can escape.
The Fortunate Brother is a story of loss, grief and mourning – and hope.
