Connie Farrell, New York restaurant critic, finds herself in a business-class seat on her way to Venice for the second honeymoon of a lifetime. There's only one problem – her husband of ten years, is not sitting next to her.

He just hasn't made it. Down-hearted but refusing to be devastated, Connie orders a glass of Moet and decides to make the best of it.

Her holiday takes a definite turn for the better when dreamy Marco, an impossibly handsome gondolier, enters her life and introduces her to the unimaginable delights of the city. The water, the crumbling palaces and the dark and mysterious alleys and doorways of Venice mesmerize Connie, but equally make her wonder if perhaps her Venetian escapade is too good to be true….
