365天，365則365字的說故事實踐，在訴說中探索「故事」為何對人類個體、家庭、社會如此重要？

2013年，英國小說家James Robertson開始了一個計畫：每天寫下一則故事，每個故事都不多不少正好是365字。他辦到了。

隔年，這365個故事陸續在企鵝旗下的數位雜誌《Five Dial》網站上發布，每天刊出一則，如今再被編輯成冊出版，歷經了不同型態的出版生命。這些故事有的源於遠古的神話與傳說，有的取自蘇格蘭的歷史故事及民俗故事，體裁豐富多變：幽默的諷刺故事，偽裝的歌曲或詩歌，童話，夢境觸發的故事，有的以訪談呈現，或者個人性的記憶與觀察，展現了短篇故事驚人的可能性。

365則故事全都圍繞著這些核心問題展開：我們是誰？我們在這裡做什麼？接下來會發生什麼事？作者藉由這個實驗性的計畫探問故事的本質，故事為何對人類個體、家庭，社會群體如此重要？

 

James Robertson，著有五部小說，《The Professor of Truth》、《And the Land lay Still》、《 Joseph Knight》及《The Fanatic》，其中《The Testament of Gideon Mack》入圍2006年布克獎，獲選2007年理查與茱蒂讀書俱樂部選書。《 Joseph Knight》獲得2003年蘇格蘭十字獎年度最佳小說獎（Saltire Book of the Year Award），2010年《And the Land lay Still》也獲同一獎項肯定。
