Martine Leavitt is best known for her award-winning fantasy, Keturah and Lord Death, which was a finalist for the National Book Award, an ALA Best Books for Young Adults pick, a New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age, a Publishers Weekly Book of the Year, and was named a Top 10 Fantasy for Youth Romances and a Top 10 Women's History Books for Youth by Booklist. In addition to winning the prestigious Mr. Christie's Award and Benjamin Franklin Award, Martine has received numerous award nominations including the Governor General's Literary Award. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Vermont College and lives in Alberta, Canada.
